Setting: The breakroom at a mechanic’s shop. Day.
At Rise: JUDY and JENNIFER are decorating the shop. GARY enters.
———————————————————————————————————————————————
GARY: Fancy!
JUDY: We only had a twenty-dollar budget.
JENNIFER: Best the dollar store can provide.
(JENNIFER bats a balloon at GARY.)
GARY: Hey, that balloon says my name.
JUDY: Yup. It sure does.
JENNIFER: This party’s for you!
GARY: Me?
JUDY: Yup.
GARY: Why?
JENNIFER: Cuz you’re awesome.
GARY: Aw. You gals are too nice to me. I don’t deserve such good coworkers. In the last forty years that I’ve worked for Bobby’s Auto Shop, no one has ever given me a party, not even Bobby and he’s my best friend.
JUDY: We hoped Bobby would be here today.
JENNIFER: Yes, this was actually his idea.
GARY: Really?
JUDY: Bobby’s a coward.
JENNIFER: He went to Key West.
GARY: Why do you think he’s a coward for going to Key West. He deserves to go on vacation every once in a while.
(JENNIFER hands GARY a cake.)
GARY: (reading) “Best wishes on your next chapter, Gary.”
JUDY and JENNIFER: Happy retirement, Gary!
GARY: (raising fist in the air) Bobby, you coward!
THE END.
