This story was written with the following prompts: beach, dog trainer, fisherman, rainbow
RAE: George and Marie ran along the beach with their tails flying in the breeze.
LINDA: “Let’s run to the rainbow. It’s so beautiful,” Marie said as she galloped ahead of George.
RAE: George heard Rose yelling their names as he sped after Marie.
LINDA: Rose had been training the two Great Pyrenees for the last month and now she regretted celebrating their graduation at the beach.
RAE: “Rainbow! Rainbow! Rainbow!” George and Marie barked as they plowed through the sand at the edge of the water.
LINDA: Rose was exhausted because she was training for a marathon, and she had already jogged ten miles that morning.
RAE: Marie looked back at Rose and then started dog paddling toward a boat on the horizon.
LINDA: “Marie!” yelled Rose, “Here! Now!”
RAE: “C’mon George,” barked Marie. “That boat will sail us to the rainbow.”
LINDA: Before Rose could get into the water, George and Marie reached the boat.
RAE: Lucius came out of the cabin, rubbing his eyes in shock at the two huge fluffy dogs swimming toward him.
LINDA: They hopped on the boat and shook the water off their white fur.
RAE: Lucius was afraid the boat would be swamped as there was so much water and wrapped the dogs in towels.
LINDA: “Take us to the rainbow,” barked Marie.
RAE: “What she said,” barked George.
LINDA: Lucius saw Rose in the distance, but could not hear what she was saying.
RAE: “Is that your mommy?” he asked the dogs.
LINDA: George and Marie looked at him and barked in agreement.
RAE: They looked from Lucius to the rainbow to Rose back to Lucius back to Rose and smiled expectantly at Lucius.
LINDA: Lucius had plans to catch tuna that day, without dogs, so he steered the boat back to shore.
RAE: Rose met the boat at the pier.
LINDA: She thanked Lucius and promptly snapped on the dogs’ leashes.
RAE: George and Marie looked disappointed, so Rose took out a couple of extra special treats for them.
LINDA: Dried rainbow trout fish skins.
RAE: George said to Marie, “We didn’t make it to the rainbow, but this is pretty good.”
