Why We Like This Game
Popcorn is an energizer game that can be played quickly and generates laughter. This game can also be easily modified for accessibility. Similar to Counting, Popcorn is a game in the surprisingly difficult category.
Objective
To always have one person standing up in the group
Instructions
- Ask participants to form a circle or face each other so they can see everyone.
- Explain the objective of the game: to always have one person standing up in the group.
- Then ask participants to randomly stand up without communicating with each other. If more than one person stands up, someone will have to sit down.
Tips
- Some participants may stand for a long time and may resist sitting down; some people may not know when to participate if others are dominating the activity. Encourage all participants to join the game and “share the space.”
- If the game is too easy, increase the number of people standing at a time to 2 or more.
- Variation: have participants raise their hands instead of standing up.
